Getting Strong with Workout Muse Interval Training Music

FORCE_FITNESS

By Ryan Ketchum of Bloomington Fitness Boot Camp

I developed my passion for strength and conditioning in an atmosphere where we lifted heavy and we lifted heavy often.   During my time as a young athlete and then collegiate track and field athlete my time in the gym was spent getting as big and strong as possible.

Although my goals have changed and I am much more intelligent about my training now, I still have the urge to push some weight around, but I don’t have the time to spend hours in the gym lifting heavy.  Workout Muse allows me to mix my fast paced training style with the “heavy” lifting of my past with the new 30-30 Mayhem interval workout music.

We use the 30-30 tracks to incorporate more strength based moves that need adequate rest time to be performed optimally.  It is tough to jump squat at max intensity for 50 seconds or do 20 seconds of pull ups with 10 seconds of rest and repeat it all over again.   I can however incorporate about any strength or power based movement into a workout using the 30-30 Mayhem tracks.   It gives me just enough time to get in a quality number of reps with the necessary intensity and also rest long enough to recover for the next movement. Our last blog post was about an advanced strength workout A, so today I am going to share an advanced strength workout B for you to alternate between.

No video game fitness- this is NOT a hardcore workout!

The shorter work period in conjunction with the longer rest period allows for more intense exercise variations and heavier loading than in the classic 50-10 format as found with the Best Bootcamp Workout Music from Bootcamp Dynamite.

I’ve shared a lot of core circuits in the past, most of which feature either the 50-10 Five-Exercise Circuit Interval Training Music from Boot Camp Dynamite or 20-10’s from Tabata Interval Workout Music from Ultimate Tabatas.

However, today I am going to share a different, more INTENSE twist on core training using 30-30 Mayhem powered by Workout Muse (coming soon in September 2009).

30-30 Cardio Interval Training Workout Music

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Here’s a great Cardio Interval Training Workout using 30-30 Mayhem Powered by Workout Muse.

It’s a great way to change-up your cardio interval workouts by departing from the typical straight-line running that most people confine themselves to.

Traditional Cardio Interval Training

Traditional Cardio Interval Training

Essentially, you just cycle between a mix of total body resistance exercises and body weight cardio exercises.

The 1:1 work to rest ratio allows for utmost intensity during the work period with an equal amount of rest and transition to the next exercise. The key is you really want to kill it during the 30 s work portion, being sure to hold nothing back since you get plenty of recovery time. And be sure to use the heaviest loads and/or the most advanced exercise variations for your current fitness level while maintaining perfect form and technique.

This departs from the negative work to rest ratio inherent to 20 s of work-10 s of rest from Ultimate Tabatas Powered by Workout Muse- less recovery time means less overall intensity or loading for your selected exercises. This is avoided with 30-30 Mayhem. Again, it’s always best to mix up your intervals to break through plateaus and make training as fun as possible. (more…)

Kettlebell Interval Training Powered by Workout Muse

By Pam MacElree

When I think of kettlebell training, I get into a mindset
that it's time to lift heavy. Of course when it's time
to lift heavy you need the appropriate music selection to
go along with your kettlebell training workout.

The 30-30 Mayhem interval training music soundtrack from Workout Muse
works perfectly as a substitute for our kettlebell training workout
music.

Additionally, the 30-30 Mayhem track is perfect for workouts
that I do with my coaches. I plan several workouts a month
with our coaches, so I can make sure they are doing the
kettlebell exercises properly. (more...)
