Rope Undulation Workout Set to Tabata Interval Training Fitness Music

Recently I hooked our gym up with a pair of 50 foot 2-inch thick ropes to mix up my training… it has been awesome!

Ropes allow for a great total body workout that is very low impact on the joints. Furthermore, I have been able to get my heart rate up as high with the ropes as I do with running sprints… no joke!

Plus, you can further crank up the intensity by wearing a weight vest.

Take a look at a couple 4-minute tabata interval training workouts using undulation rope exercises:

In the second video, I experimented with some rope exercises on unstable surfaces and it was killer:

Just thought I’d share what’s been working for me… time to get ripped with ropes ;)

Crank it!

    Beautiful battling ropes ;)

Another crazy fav. of mine the waterball… fill 1/2 to 3/4 of a stability ball with water and start slamming the thing around… killer for the whole body and grip…

Hey BJ – OUTSTANDING demo – really liked the rope routine/set up!

Now, are the two separate 50 foot ropes anchored, tied or looped to anything at the other end?

    yo Curtis!

ya bro, I anchored both ropes to a 100 lb db each.. outdoors, a tree or flag pole will work great too!

if you do semi-private, great mix up for your clients’ training ;)

    crank it!

BJ – awesome post. I’ve been thinking about getting some ropes but, I haven’t found any at a decent price. Where did you get yours?

I’ve been using 1 gallon & 5 gallon gas cans filled with water a lot. The campers love and hate them. They are versatile as you know what. Shrugs, farmer’s walks, squat thrusts holding the handles, dips, deep push ups, swings and many more.

I bought some tow chains, hooked them up with some KB’s and had the campers run sprints with hands over head. They loved it.

    Hi BJ,

Great videos. Arms and shoulders are looking ripped!

I’d love to use something like that in my classes. Is that your new facility. U renting it or leasing it?

In regards to youssef suggestion of filling a SB with water you can also fill it with sand which we have at the facility I use.
