This past weekend at the IYCA Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, Dave “The Band Man” Schmitz and I got in some killer workouts at “The Prestigious Brown Hotel.”

During one 40-20 workout we did together, we decided to go head to head in a resistance band versus kettlebell workout.
Needless to say it was interesting and super intense
Watch Dave and I go head to head in Part I of Bands vs. Bells below:

Wow, that was pretty intense. While Bj had to watch out for “half way” to switch hands Dave just went on till the end. I guess the band is more convenient since the stress is very well leveled on both sides, plus you don’t get to hit yourself on the head with the bell by accident, lol. However, you both experienced the same level of exhaustion by the end of it, so I say to each his own
. The band is an excellent replacement though, this was very nice to see guys, thanx.
Hey Sinisa,
The asymmetrical loading of the kettlebell was on purpose as it creates a much greater demand on both core and hip stability, as opposed to having equal weight in both sides.
But I love me some bands AND kettlebells

Awesome workout

And, eh, the elastic guy is HOT!
The biggest thing for me is that with the Bands you can carry 10-12 bands in a bag for a mobile gym anywhere. Kettles are big bulky and heavy. Great for the gym but not convenient for the busy on the go person. Great Battle…….The Bobby Flay Throw down of Interval Training.
Nice work! Looked like a killer workout. Far better than what you’d get in the hotel’s “fitness center.”
