However, today I am going to share a different, more INTENSE twist on core training using 30-30 Mayhem powered by Workout Muse (coming soon in September 2009).

Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin… Sans Proper Diet!

Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin

TIME Magazine recently published a very controversial article on the effects of exercise on weight loss.

The article was called “Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin” (to read the article in full: http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1914857-1,00.html)

a_wexercise_0817

Not exactly a sweeping promotion for fitness!

Though there were a lot of things within the article that I found misleading or flat out incorrect, the article does bring to light some very important concepts that are critical for the general population to understand:

1.) Exercise WILL make you hungrier

There is no question here. Exercise, especially intensive exercise, ramps up metabolism and our body’s natural response to energy expenditure (calories burnt from activity) is to increase energy consumption (food intake). (more…)

30-30 Cardio Interval Training Workout Music

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Here’s a great Cardio Interval Training Workout using 30-30 Mayhem Powered by Workout Muse.

It’s a great way to change-up your cardio interval workouts by departing from the typical straight-line running that most people confine themselves to.

Traditional Cardio Interval Training

Traditional Cardio Interval Training

Essentially, you just cycle between a mix of total body resistance exercises and body weight cardio exercises.

The 1:1 work to rest ratio allows for utmost intensity during the work period with an equal amount of rest and transition to the next exercise. The key is you really want to kill it during the 30 s work portion, being sure to hold nothing back since you get plenty of recovery time. And be sure to use the heaviest loads and/or the most advanced exercise variations for your current fitness level while maintaining perfect form and technique.

This departs from the negative work to rest ratio inherent to 20 s of work-10 s of rest from Ultimate Tabatas Powered by Workout Muse- less recovery time means less overall intensity or loading for your selected exercises. This is avoided with 30-30 Mayhem. Again, it’s always best to mix up your intervals to break through plateaus and make training as fun as possible. (more…)

Anywhere Workouts

By Greg Justice of Corporate Boot Camp System

Outdoor Workouts

Outdoor Workouts

In the personal training industry I’m known as the corporate boot camp guru, because of my Corporate Boot Camp System.  Trainers from three countries and every region of the United States run my program.  The nutrition program was designed by nationally renowned registered dietitian, Jayson Hunter, and the workouts were designed by boot camp guru and co-founder of Workout Muse, BJ Gaddour.

When I began my business in 1986, I found that many of my personal training and corporate boot camp clients traveled more than the average person.  Many of them expressed frustration with consistently having to ‘start over’ each time they went on vacation or a business trip.  It seemed like every time we would start to see some positive results from our workouts they would leave town and have to start all over again upon their return.

Anywhere Workouts

During the past few years I’ve been traveling more for my business than in the early days.  My frequent travels have given me a better understanding of the frustrations my clients were feeling when it came to their travels and working out.  That’s when I started to develop a series of workouts called “Workout Where You Are Workouts” using the revolutionary interval training music powered by Workout Muse. Kettlebell Interval Training Powered by Workout Muse

By Pam MacElree

_DSC0267 Web Ready

When I think of kettlebell training, I get into a mindset
that it's time to lift heavy. Of course when it's time
to lift heavy you need the appropriate music selection to
go along with your kettlebell training workout.

The 30-30 Mayhem interval training music soundtrack from Workout Muse
works perfectly as a substitute for our kettlebell training workout
music.

Additionally, the 30-30 Mayhem track is perfect for workouts
that I do with my coaches. I plan several workouts a month
with our coaches, so I can make sure they are doing the
kettlebell exercises properly. (more...)

Crank it in the Ring of Fire

By Dave Schmitz of Resistance Band Training

There is absolutely no better way to train a group of highly motivated fitness enthusiasts with resistance bands than by putting them in The Ring.  Yes I said The Ring.

Training in the Ring using resistance bands is the ultimate in partner band training.  Not only does it provide an opportunity for 6 to12 people to push each other, it also allows trainers to create tremendous group chemistry and community. And as always when it comes to band training… You know you can train anywhere, anytime at any intensity.

However there are a few recommendations “the band man” needs to share with you before you crank it in the ring:

1.  Make sure your group has mastered the movement you want to do in the ring.  The ring is an advance training approach and can be intimidating to some, so make sure everyone is ready.

2.  As a trainer you must train in the ring and have become proficient with teaching  partner based training before you bring on the ring.  It’s like going from 1 on 1 to bootcamp training.  It takes some practice and progression

3.  Map out your workout.   Here is a challenging 20 minute workout in the ring (more…)
